Our cemetery was opened in 1995 after we purchased the land adjacent to our premises. We believed that there was a need for a new burial ground in the area, following the closure of St Bartholomew’s church yard in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. We decided at this time to make this a place of comfort and solace for family and friends to visit their loved ones. We take great pride in our cemetery and it is well maintained throughout the year, this reflects in its popularity. The cemetery is open 24 hours a day 365 days of the year with unlimited access. We have our own car parking facilities attached to the cemetery and it is easily accessible for disabled visitors.
As well as a burial ground Woodhorn cemetery offers the provision of placing ashes in our unique Rose wall. The space provided on the Rose wall enables a plaque to be erected in front of the ashes urn providing ample room for keep sakes, also allowing room for flowers to be displayed. Alternatively ashes can be interred into the ground in the traditional manner.

Woodhorn Burials
Following the purchase of land and approval from Northumberland County Council the cemetery has been extended from August 2018 and we are now able to offer woodland burials in the new section. The aim is to offer an alternative to traditional burials in the local area with a vision to create a peaceful, tranquil environment for families & friends to visit loved ones. Trees and flowers are planted and wildlife will be encouraged.
All plots will be single depth with a tree of your choice planted for a loved one. These mature trees can be purchased through A.J.Gascoigne & Son and will be transplanted during the winter months once the plots have settled.
Plots can be marked with green slate plaques (9”x9”) with personalised engraving.
